Adding share buttons for a website is important. For most websites, social shares bring 20% of the visitors. Sharing a website links drives organic traffic to a website.

You can monetize this traffic via ads or affiliate links or both. Having share buttons is like ranking 1st on Google. You can drive unlimited organic traffic from both. You should also have good content to share.

How to choose the best Social Media buttons to show?

There are 103 social media platforms integrated with this plugin. These include Facebook, Whatsapp, Pinterest, and Twitter. It also has features like Copy Link, Print etc…

But you have to choose the best Social Media Sharing Buttons only. If you have many sharing options, your users will have a hard time choosing the platform to share. So, reduce the number of buttons? If you have very less sharing options, your users can’t share your links.

You have to choose a good number of buttons to share. Neither many nor less. A number around 4-6 is good. You have to also choose the sharing social media platforms that your users use the most. If they use it, there are high chances that they want to share your website on it.

If you use the sharing button for a social media platform with very low traffic, the probability (chances) of sharing your website will also be less. Even if a user shares it, due to less traffic on the platform, your website will get less traffic. So, you need to have buttons for the social media platforms that have high traffic and your users’ use it.

Following all the rules that we talked about, we decided to show What’s App, Copy Link, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest buttons.

  • What’s App
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Pinterest

In our research, we found out that these platforms have a good amount of traffic and users might want to share your website on them. This is our choice but you can customise it as your choice. For example, if your site is related to memes, you can add Reddit sharing Button. If your users are on any other platforms other than those listed above, you can add them.

What if your users want to share it on other platforms?

Okay, you added these buttons but what if your users want to share it on other Social Media Platforms? Don’t worry. AddToAny has a special feature called “Universal Buttons”. If a visitor wants to share it on other platforms than the ones you listed, then the visitor can click Universal Button. After clicking, the user will be shown many other platforms to share your links. Let’s see how to set it up.

Setup Universal Button

By default, Universal Button will be turned on. If you want to customise it, you can do it by going to AddToAny Settings In the AddToAny settings, you can find a section named “Universal Button”.

You can show a button or a custom image or text. We recommend you use the default Universal button itself. You can select “None”  to turn it off. You can also show the count of shares, but we don’t recommend it. Nobody visits your site to read the number of shares on your website.

Share with your Friends 🙂
